Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries in 1966, after he purchased the manufacturing rights to a material lift which operated on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" that was used to lower and raise the hoist. This mechanism really impressed customers and therefore, the name was born.
Genie has moved into many new markets, because the need for work platforms and lifts grew. Over time, when the requirements for new machines to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself known in numerous new markets. For instance, Genie went into manufacturing man-lifts, articulated booms, light towers telehandlers and stick booms.
Due to the economic downturn during the beginning of the 2000s, Genie decided to secure a partner who had the same values. They partnered up together with Terex Corporation. This company has a history acquiring machine manufacturers across the world who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold during 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
During the early years after the sale, it was decided to maintain the Genie brand name within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, due to the name's solid reputation within the marketplace. Therefore, all Genie machines continue to be sold under the Genie brand.
Genie takes pride in listening to their customers. The company is dedicated to continually improving efficiency and quality and is also dedicated to minimizing waste. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company focuses on offering outstanding support. These are the very work practices that have made Genie a trusted brand name over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line machines.
Genie's Bi-Energy and DC machinery are emission-free, quiet machinery capable of working in delicate work settings. Where the machinery has to be driven significant distances, such as within industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the advantages of a 48V DC machinery with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
Compared to any of the various types of aerial platforms, telescopic booms offer more horizontal reach overall. These machinery are great for limited access areas in construction and other industrial environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to provide utmost productivity. These equipment provide supreme traction and the drive speed you need in order to travel around the work site and job area.
