Reach Truck
In order to keep storage places tidy and to stock up supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck could be utilized. The reach truck is available in several models: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The stand-up is the simplest. The truck forks slide underneath the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are just one pallet in depth.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to accommodate two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is similar to the stand-up, is usually used. This particular model consists of telescopic forks intended to put the pallet at the back of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when another pallet has to go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not only slide underneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in multiple directions. This particular model is best in conditions where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Normally more than one kind of reach truck is needed inside warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile companies use different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to operate and can increase production while maximizing available storage space.
