Operator Environment
Operators have an efficient and safe place to work from in the Spirit Delta cab. The particular design of the cab comes as a result of extensive research into the operators working conditions. The main objective is to provide optimum visibility with no forward corner posts and huge glass areas unobstructed so as to keep the field of vision clear. The instrumental panel is ergonomically designed and is extremely comfortable and gently rounded. This area has also been designed with an unobstructed clear view of all essential info, so as to keep the operator working as effectively as possible.
Vibration levels and noise levels are kept low thanks to the insulated mounting on the chassis. In order to maintain an optimal working position, the operator seat and hydraulic controls are all independently adjustable. Additionally, the steering wheel and related panel is adjustable for maximum comfort. There are 2 easy to operate, multi-functioned ergonomically positioned levers that are offered for gear changing, windscreen wipers, the window washers and horn.
To ensure a comfortable cab temperature for the operator, a ventilation/heating unit supplies incoming air which is replaced by an air filter. This is easily replaceable and the unit slides out afterwards to make serviceability an easy option. The equipment has a robust 3-speed fan for cooling, heating, defrosting and recirculation. As an additional option, air conditioning can be fitted.
Instrumentation
In the Spirit Delta, the instrument panel has logically grouped units that are all accessible. Basic instrumentation consists of: low brake pressure, high coolant temperature, warning lamps, low engine and gearbox lubrication oil pressure, applied parking brake and high gearbox oil temperature. In addition, gauges display values for fuel quantity, operating time, engine coolant and gearbox oil pressure.
Among the important options the 8 to 10 tonne trucks can be equipped with is the ECS or also called Electronic Control System monitoring. This allows for easy supervision of the model. All of the monitoring functions are handled by the ECS or Electronic Control System and incorporated by this system. The full text display and the single warning lamp show any errors which occur and their current values.
