Narrow aisle forklifts
Usually utilized within warehouse applications is the Narrow Aisle Forklift. These forklifts are essential equipments within the business since their small size and excellent maneuverability enable warehouses to utilize space to maximum storing capacity. They can easily go around aisles that are 1.8 meters wide, while standard lift trucks require 3.4 meters of aisle width, at least.
This particular kind of forklift is sub-categorized as "narrow aisle forklifts" and "very narrow aisle forklifts". The former need 2.4 meters - 3 meters in aisle width, whilst the latter could function in a 1.8 meters wide space.
The narrow aisle forklift design consists of forks positioned at right angles to the body of the truck. The trucks do not have to face the shelves, but instead drive straight down the aisle picking up loads to the side. This particular design feature is the key to their suitability for limited spaces.
To be able to make sure that the forklift is moving in a straight line down the aisle, some very narrow aisle forklifts include wire or optical systems. That way, the operator can focus more on the placement and the picking of loads.
These types of lifts are equipped with cushion tires made from solid rubber. The hard tires perform well on concrete floors and smooth, paved surfaces. Narrow aisle forklifts have electric motors which is best used within indoor places. Propane-powered versions are available too.
